Kew Gardens: Community Dialogues Tea Parties

Developing the community engagement project ‘Edible Plants: Community Dialogues’ for Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. We worked with five local community organisations in a series of workshops in the format of a ‘pop up tea salon’ to explore edible plants in both the Temperate House and Palm House.

 

Fairlop Fair:  Sadia’s Fairlop Tea Parties

We hosted two pop-up tea parties in our very own tea tent during the Fairlop Fair in Redbridge. Serving up afternoon tea, fancy snacks and Fairlop-themed parlour games. Folk could add to the growing ‘Fairlop Memories’ installation during the course of the day.

 

London Borough of Redbridge: Sadia’s Mad Hatter Tea Parties

To promote the forthcoming Fairlop Fair, on Saturday 15th June we took over the High Street and organised two ‘Mad Hatter’s’ tea parties on Barkingside High Street.

 

National Maritime Museum: Sadia’s Commonwealth Tea Parties

We hosted a series of three tea parties that formed a part of the events programme for the ‘Royal River: Power, Pageantry and the Thames’ exhibition at the National Maritime Museum. Linked to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and themed commonwealth we served tea from three different commonwealth nations.

 

National Maritime Museum: Traders Tea Parties

We hosted a series of 4 international tea parties that formed part of the ‘Traders Unpacked’ season of events, activities and workshops to mark the new permanent gallery; Traders: The East India Company and Asia at the National Maritime Museum. This gallery explores the history and continuing relevance of Britain’s trade with Asia, looking at this compelling story through the lens of the East India Company.

 

Centre for Independent Living: Persian New Year Tea Party

We marked Nowruz, the Iranian New Year by hosting an extra special Persian Tea Party with Iranian Community London East at the Centre for Independent and Inclusive Living.

 

Valentines Mansion: A Local Dialogue Tea Parties

We hosted a series of 6 international tea parties as part of the project A Local Dialogue at Valentines Mansion. Each tea party served a different type of tea with a set topic of conversation about the local area/ history. During the tea parties, we collected stories, memories, experiences of the local area and Valentines Mansion. This was collated in the form of an online blog, audio installation and exhibition at the venue.
